EASINGWOLD maintained their Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League drive for the premier division runners-up spot when they defeated fourth-placed Fenner by four wickets.

Will Parker made 27 for the Hull-based side, but Paul Redshaw’s 3-32 and Stephen Piercy’s 3-24 had them all out for 120.

Steven Croft then took three wickets for 35 but, initially, Mike Mierzwinski hit 29, then Josh Greenlay made an unbeaten 42 to remedy a poor start and complete the victory.

At Chanterlands, Dunnington were whipped out for a mere 67 as Matt Wilkinson took 6-36 in 14.5 overs and Calum Helvig claimed 3-3.

Collis King was top scorer with 22, having hit three sixes and a four before falling to Wilkinson.

A Dyson hit back with 2-13 but an unbeaten 37 by Jack Storey had Hull Zingari as winners by eight wickets to ensure their safety.

Nick Hindle hit 80 and Alex Renton made 40 to set up a 57-run victory for Clifton Alliance over Sewerby whose relegation fears remain.

The Alliance were able to post a total of 180-9 despite the efforts of Tom Chippendale with 3-40 and Robin Coates who had 3-33.

In Sewerby’s unsuccessful reply, Russ Robinson made 25 and Lewis Beasley 25 but the plaudits were grabbed by Liam Green who took a decisive 6-24.

Woodhouse Grange clocked up their fourth successive title when they defeated bottom-placed York by four wickets at Clifton Park.

Rob Flack hit 82 and Ian Jarvis made 56 not out in a total of 182-4 for York which seemed to be below-par. This was the case with Mike Burdett making 84no and brother Steve Burdett 55. Jake Murphy bowled well for York to take 4-37.

Beverley Town batted first when they entertained Stamford Bridge and posted a useful target of 231-8, despite a fine spell of 5-72 in 15 overs from Luke Robinson.

Figuring with the bat were Faisal Abid who made 61, Olly Grantham with 64 and Andy Burton who top-scored with 75.

The second half of the game was totally dominated by Dominic Rhodes.

His brilliant 153 topped his previous 138 as the best individual score in the premier division this season.

With Phil Hill making 39, Stamford emerged as victors by five wickets to move into fourth place.

Runs flowed at Moor Farm, where Sheriff Hutton Bridge had the better of a draw with Studley Royal, despite a ton from Royal’s Rob Nicholson who hit 104. The Bridge were indebted to the Fisher brothers with skipper Adam hitting 85 and Mark making 62.

Paul Scaling chipped in with 31 in a total of 263-8 as Lewis Day had 4-45 for the visitors.

Supporting Nicholson was Mackie who made 63 but Mark Fisher took 3-68 to peg the Royals to 226-7.

Division one promotion-chasers Acomb were held to a draw by Driffield Town but remain on course to rise after pocketing 27 points.

Early-order runs came from Andy Tute with 44 and Harry Booth who made 42. Then it was the turn of the Dale brothers to take their side to 267-4 with Matthew Dale making 98 and Joe Dale adding 48.

After the interval, Simon Brown captured 4-42 to cause concern in the Driffield camp but their cause was steadied by N Johnson, who made 29 and Will Norman, whose 54no steered Driffield to a draw at 153-8.

Heworth clinched the first division title with a six-wicket triumph over Whitkirk which leaves them in an uncatchable position.

Mark Murphy made a fine 93no for Whitkirk but was devoid of material support as Rich Walton took 3-21.

Facing a total of 143-8, Dan Walton hit 68 to gain a six-wicket victory.

Third-placed Sessay kept their kept their hopes alive when they beat fourth-placed Pickering by 138 runs thanks, to a great extent, to an innings of 99 by Dave Johnson.

He was well supported by Tim Hall who made 72, Mark Wilkie with 29 and 30 from Matt Till.

The Pickering response included 57 by Colin Frank, but three wickets apiece for Liam Carver (3-29), Mark Wilkie (3-25) and Matt Till (3-11) saw the Pikes dismissed for 107.

There was a really closely fought derby game at Folkton & Flixton where Malton & Old Malton moved out of the bottom two after winning by just two runs.

For the winners, there were half-centuries for Wayne Dawson with 67 and W Spencer, who was unbeaten with 66, while Martyn Woodliffee added 33. Mike Hunter took 4-44 for Flixton.

Neil Elvidge hit 41 with 44 from Rich Malthouse, but Chris Hudson took 3-24 and Spencer 3-22 to dismiss Flixton for 206.
