YORK Acorn RLFC failed to answer coach Scott Rhodes’ plea to halt the rot.
They perished 22-12 at home to Dewsbury Celtic for a fifth straight loss in the National Conference League first division.
Acorn started brightly, centre Ryan Gallacher opening the account before a wind-assisted move led Dewsbury to reply with a converted try, which was then repeated.
Josh Thompson and Jordan Myres combined for Myres to score for the hosts, who were hit by the resulting conversion from Anthony Chilton being chalked off despite appearing to go between the posts.
Poor discipline allowed Celtic to widen the advantage widened with two penalties.
On 68 minutes, man of the match Gallacher won the fight to the try line to set up an exciting finish, but it was Celtic who had the last say.
A third successive division three triumph was seized Heworth in a 36-6 conquest of Eastmoor.
Unconverted tries from Liam Richmond and Steve Scott gave them an 8-0 half-time lead with Josh Poulter’s try, booted home by Danny Allan.
Even though Eastmoor replied in kind, Heworth bagged more tries from Poulter, Lewis Worthington, Jonny Payne and man of the match, prop Jack Smith. Allan kicked three.
