SECOND-PLACED Duncombe Park suffered a surprise defeat at Thirsk in Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League division two north.
James Wilkinson took 5-58 and then hit 50 as Thirsk pulled off a six-wicket win that almost certainly ended Park’s chances of catching leaders Osbaldwick. Park’s Peter Kent struck 71 but Wilkinson, together with Ben Elders who had 4-14, had Park all out for 165. Mark Cook then struck 58.
Osbaldwick had the better of a draw with third-placed Harrogate, who took 18 points against Osbaldwick’s 26 when their 181-8 was just short of the 185-8 target.
Osbaldwick’s Rich Carew hit 86 and Mark Ridsdale 48 as Ollie Driver claimed 4-36.
Harrogate’s reply featured a fine 98 by George Owram, but Jonny Rawsthorne took 3-40.
Sheriff Hutton are bottom after losing to Hovingham.
