SURGING Northampton Town are determined not to be an “up and down” team says boss Chris Wilder ahead of the Cobblers visit to Bootham Crescent tomorrow, writes Steve Carroll.

His men pulled off a Capital One Cup giant-killing on Tuesday night when downing League One Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 at Molineux and Wilder is keen his men back up that performance against the Minstermen.

Wilder surprised many pundits when swapping promotion chasing Oxford for a Northampton side that looked to be heading for the relegation trapdoor in January.

But he lost only five of 20 games as the Cobblers vaulted to safety and they have had a perfect start to the new campaign - with the Wolves triumph preceded by a 1-0 home win over Mansfield in their Sky Bet League Two opener last weekend.

Wilder has a number of selection headaches to consider on the trip north. Chris Hackett and Darren Carter are doubts with Achilles and hamstring injuries while Kelvin Langmead and Emile Sinclair are definitely out with Achilles and groin injuries respectively.

Lewis Hornby, who missed all of last season with a back injury, has now been struck down with tendonitis but Wilder can continue with goal hero Lawson D’Ath, who bagged a brace in midweek.

Ian Morris also made a statement in central midfield against Wolves and Marc Richards was rested so Wilder still has a number of options ahead of the York game.

Following their Capital One Cup shock, the Cobblers boss said: “It was a good night for us but I don’t want us to be an up and down team and now we need to go again at York.”

Northampton (possible): Duke, Alfei, Diamond, Robertson, Collins, D’Ath, Ravenhill, Carter, Mohamed, O’Toole, Richards.
