YORK despatched 2012 champions Stamford Bridge in the Foss Evening Cricket League to move a step closer to the division one title.

York made 128 at Low Catton Road before restricting Stamford Bridge to 98 in reply, while rivals Woodhouse Grange suffered a second straight defeat.

Grange posted 107-5 mainly due to the efforts of Mike Hattee (36) and Scott Shepherd (38), but the rate was stymied by Jack Spofforth’s 3-31.

Dunnington then won by seven wickets with an over to spare as the experience of Jack Bolam (35no) and Gareth Miles (30), plus runs from Adam Sutcliffe (26), proved the difference.

Osbaldwick won the battle of the basement sides.

Melbourne made 81-7 as Ollie Cambridge snared 4-14. Osbaldwick then took only nine overs to rattle up the winning total with Matt Hattee (24) and skipper Sam Thompson (38no) doing the damage.

Londesborough Park conceded to Heworth - a result which moved Heworth joint top and condemned Park to relegation under the new rules that punish sides for conceding too many matches.

Bishopthorpe were held up by debutant Callum Mooney, taking 3-11, to fall 56 short at 78-8.

The Retreat improved their hopes of avoiding relegation as an all-round performance from Salman Syed and a hat-trick from Rich Carroll pushed Thixendale to the brink of the drop.

Syed made an unbeaten 52 and, with support from Buddhi Mirando (34), led The Retreat to 137-3.

Syed then picked up 3-13 with the ball, but Carroll was the main tormentor of Thixendale with 5-23.

Alex Machen was the only Thixendale batsman to resist with 38 as they were bowled out for 71.

Bubwith sealed the division three title by defeating nearest rivals Ovington by eight wickets.

Ovington were in the box seat at 80-0 after ten overs but Connaire Brattan (3-15) and Sam Elliott (3-23) changed the game when Pete Kelly (43) and Craig Nichol (38) were dismissed.

Ovington’s innings dwindled from their strong start to 113-7.

Bubwith had a 76-run second-wicket partnership between Paul Van Dijk (65no) and Richard Readman (32) to thank for their title-sealing win.

A thrilling match unfolded at the Outgang as Aviva Vikings brought to an end Tang Hall Tigers’ four-match unbeaten run with a penultimate ball victory.
