SHERIFF Hutton Bridge II were saved by the rain in division three north as lowly Londesborough Park closed on victory.

Having reached 73-2, the Bridge lost six wickets for a mere eight runs before eventually moving to 114 all out as L Medley claimed 3-22.

Londesborough progressed to a strong position at 70-4, with H Gamble unbeaten on 25, when the weather ended proceedings.

There was another call off at Sessay, where the home side had made 72-4 against Malton & Old Malton in the play that was completed. John Flintoff made 32.

Drax had made a confident 124-1 at Stillington before the rains took control. Luke Edwards was unbeaten on 65 and Kev Thomas was on 45 not out.

Castleford moved closer to the leaders with an advantage draw at York which earned them 27 points.

They totalled 224-3 declared as Simon Tucker hit 83. Tom Boyle hit a top score of 40 when York replied and was supported by Tom Wright, with 26, and Oliver Scurry, who made 30, as they closed on 137-8.

Heworth maintained third place in the division three south table when they defeated Pickering by 120 runs after declaring on 214-4.

There were half-centuries from Lee Bradshaw (51) Jonathon Draper (64), while Paul Neal made 30 and Greg Sykes an unbeaten 30.

The Pikes were then rolled over for only 94 as Guy Wilkinson picked up 5-20 and Tom Neal 3-9.

Second-placed New Earswick walloped Selby by 146 runs after Andy James struck 102.

Andy Routledge, with 41, and Marcus Johnson, with 29, enabled Earswick to declare on 182-3. Selby were then dismissed for only 36 as Paul Stimpson grabbed 4-7 and Adam Hewitson 4-9.

Bowlers were in command at Rowntrees, where the home side defeated Scarborough by 49 runs thanks to a 5-23 return by Steve Beales as the visitors tumbled to 65 all out.

Earlier, Rowntrees & Huntington had struggled to 114 all out as Sam Carver claimed 3-14 and Jordan Welford 3-8.

John Flint turned in a good all-round performance in making 58 and then taking 3-29 as Yapham gained the better of a draw with Civil Service.

Jack Holman’s 52 was his first half-century of the season in Yapham's 187-9, with Travis Crouch taking 4-45 for Service.

In reply, L Hallam hit 59 and Richard Wells an unbeaten 28, which just saved his side from defeat as Flint and S Hardwicke (3-28) reduced them to 143-9.

Welton & Brough totalled 144-7 at Stamford Bridge, for whom Des Healey had 3-36 and Graham Tipping 3-16. The weather then took control.
