MORE than £1,500 was raised for the academy at York City following the seventh York City Supporters’ Trust Golf Day at Pike Hills GC.
Course knowledge proved vital as a home team The Pike Hills Four, which included top York amateur Martin Brown, posted an impressive 94 points to take the main prize. It was the first time in the history of the event that a host club had a team placed in any of the podium places.
Former York City player and fans’ favourite Derek Hood, along with his teammates, snatched the runners-up spot after carding a superb 90 points.
Neil Smith took the plaudits for longest drive, while the nearest the line prize went to Dave Buck and Michael Chatten landed a shot nearest the pin.
