JOHN GRAHAM, Madge Cooper and Sarah Agg were the winners of Wigginton Bowls Club's Chairman and Captain's Day Shield.
The competition attracted 26 entries in a bowls drive format, with the winning team (+17) just beating runners-up Doreen Wadsworth and Colin Ellis (+16).
The shield was presented by chairman Jean Millar and captain Michael Wadsworth.
In the Batagas Triples League, Wigginton enjoyed a maximum eight-point haul at home to Welham, winning 98-36, with winning rinks from skips Jane Stockton (22-10), Ellis (32-5), Dave Imeson (22-13) and Tony Baker (22-8). They remain fourth in the table.
Ellis' 'A' team suffered a third consecutive in the York Veterans' League defeat at division one leaders West Park 'C' (17-10) and are nearing the relegation zone.
Dave Imeson's 'B' team have a good chance of returning to the top division after a home win against Dunnington 'C' (20-12) to go second in division two.
Guy Raines' 'C' team secured their first victory of the season at Poppleton 'A' (18-11) but they cannot avoid relegation to division five.
David Moorhouse's unbeaten 'E' side are virtually assured of promotion from division five after a home win against Copmanthorpe 'B' (30-9).
In the Ryedale Veterans' League, Wigginton 'A' securing a place in the quarter-finals of the Ossie Ashcroft Cup after a victory at home to Welham (81-54). Wigginton 'B' received a walkover against Huby.
Wigginton were surprisingly beaten at home by Huby in the Huby Triples League, picking up only two points from the winning rink of skip Wadsworth (21-10). They are third in the league standings.
Wigginton 'B' are still unbeaten in the Private Clubs League after a home victory against Rowntree 'B' (52-48), while the 'A' team were comfortably beaten at home in the cup by Riccall (70-33).
The Tockwith League brought a win at Tockwith (53-44), with winning rinks from Ellis (27-10) and Gary Stockton (16-11).
