FORMER City of York Athletic Club junior Jessica Taylor won a heptathlon bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Former Bootham School pupil Taylor stepped up to the challenge in the heptathlon in the absence of new mum Jessica Ennis-Hill and her heir apparent Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
The 26-year-old produced her best on the big stage, finishing with 5,826 points to claim a podium place.
The competition started with back-to-back personal bests for Taylor, 13.81 seconds in the 100 metre hurdles and 1.75 metres in the high jump.
She rounded off day one with a throw of 11.95 metres in the shot and a time of 24.42 seconds in the 200 metres to be third in the standings.
Today, a personal best in the long jump of 6.16 metres maintained her medal charge and a javelin throw of 33.89 metres meant she had a cushion over her rivals in the race for bronze.
Her 800 metres time of two minutes 17.59 seconds was enough to clinch a podium finish.
