A GROUP of Dutch students are looking for a club to give them top tips on cricket when they visit York later this year.

The students, aged 13 and 14, plus two teachers from Einstein Lyceum, Hoogvliet in Rotterdam, will be in the city on Wednesday, September 24, and are hoping a local club can host a workshop.

Carmen Snepvangers-Korndorffer, of ET Travel, a specialist student travel company which is arranging the trip said: “It is a sport not very well known in Holland.

“The students are all bilingual and for their curriculum they need to discover some English culture. We would love to see if we can arrange some kind of cricket workshop, just so they know what cricket is all about. Maybe they could take an active part so they can learn a few basic skills.

“It is hoped the school will send students each year and hope to have some form of cricket involvement on each visit.”

The students will not have their own transport during their York visit so, for practical purposes, any workshop would be best hosted by a club within the city.
