Darts: Marcia ‘B’ brushed aside by pairs run

SANDRA BRUCE hit a maximum as Castle Howard Ox 'B' eventually came out on top against division one visitors Marcia 'B' in the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

Shelagh Kenny won the opening leg for Marcia before Flossy Crampton, Denise Fowler and Bruce edged Ox into a 3-1 lead.

Joan Hunter and Sharon Rishworth levelled, but Ox then pulled away to win 6-3.

Marcia 'A' had captain Di Moreland starting their match off in the right vein, but Carole Layne (140, 100) and captain Sue Lowery responded for visitors Tramways.

Karen Alton added to their tally, but Pat Cairns and Ellen Platt levelled.

Moreland and Ann Anderson edged the home side in front before Lowery (109, 100) set up a decider and then watched as Layne and Emma Reintoul snatched victory.

Michelle Britton hit a maximum in a 25-dart pairs leg with Lynn Thompson as Fulfordgate took home a 6-3 result from joint leaders Burnholme.

Earlier, Sharon Neads had pulled Burnholme level at 3-3 in the singles.

Gate turned on the style in the pairs, winning all three games to move within striking distance of the leaders.

In division two, Julie Stables (114, 2 x 100) led front-runners Edinburgh to a 6-3 win at Jubilee, whose Vicki Capes won both her games.

Severus 'B' slipped up again as visitors Acomb took home a 6-3 result.

Sammy Endersby, Kate Rankeillor and Sarah Rankeillor led Acomb’s charge.

Bootham Club left Green Tree with a 7-2 win, Sonja Love and Janine Cartwright winning for Tree.

Jackie Church and Jackie Clemit starred for the club team, alongside Jane Barnes and Dot Trousdale.

Division three front-runners Castle Howard Ox 'A' were taken to the wire at Shoulder, Caz Johnson and Nella Majsterek sealing victory in a close game.

Leeman’s final pairing of Debbie Witts and Margaret Yeomans secured a 5-4 win at Saddle after colleague Christina Waddington had hit the top scores in her singles.

Burton Club captain Linda Embleton fired a 140 in a 26-dart leg, but Sun rose in the pairs after the singles were tied 3-3.

Captain Chris Turgoose spearheaded a 6-3 victory.
