YORK City Baths Club star James Wilby claimed sixth place in the first major international final of his career at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The 20-year-old Strensall swimmer clocked two minutes 11.53 seconds in the final of the 200 metres breaststroke tonight as Scotland's Ross Murdoch struck gold in a new Games record time.

Favourite Michael Jamieson won silver and Wilby's England team-mate Andrew Willis finished in the bronze medal position.
