RUNNERS from York Knavesmire Harriers are celebrating a superb performance in the York & District Summer League.

The competition is held over five races in the district, all over the distance of ten kilometres, and the Mire Ladies took first and third places in the team event.

Knavesmire's leading lady, Emma Yates, was first overall and first in the Ladies 45 section, while Andrea Lancaster returned to form to win the ladies 35 and come second overall.

Katie Godfrey supported Lancaster well, with coming home second in Ladies 35.

Knavesmire newcomer Anwen Darlington was third overall in her first series, while Sarah Attwood had her best season to date to come fourth overall and vice-captain Cassie Homes took fifth overall.

In the men’s series, Knavesmire claimed first and third place.

Lindsay Toulson enjoyed his first season in finishing third overall and first in Men’s 45, Giles Hawking came third in Men’s 40, while super vet Mike McGrath took second in his category.

Meanwhile, Maureen Medlar was first in Ladies 60 at the hilly Kilburn Feast 7 in a time of one hour four minutes, with Attwood came home fourth in 51 minutes.
