NORTH Yorkshire trainer Peter Niven, who sent out Sugar Town to win at 33-1 at Thirsk last week, heads to Carlisle this evening aiming to complete a quick double with the lightly-raced filly.

Sam James retains the ride on Sugar Town, who is burdened with a 6lb penalty in the Book Your Christmas Party 2014 Fillies' Handicap after riding a good ride on her at Thirsk to made most of the running.

Sugar Town, who was racing for only the fifth time in her career, looked green and raw in front and spent much of the last two furlongs looking all around her. James, though, kept her going forwards well enough to land a neck success at big odds.

That whole experience will have taught Sugar Town plenty and she remains open to bags of improvement. A follow up this evening would not be a surprise, but repeat odds of 33-1 most certainly would.

The nap vote goes to Passionada in the Wet Wet Wet Live 4th August Handicap.

Ed McMahon's filly did well in the circumstances to finish third to Captain Dunne at Haydock last time considering the ground turned soft and went against her. She can gain compensation tonight, provided the rains stay away.

The lightly-raced Jacob Black is an interesting runner in the Join Rewards4Racing Handicap.

Trained by Keith Dalgleish, Jacob Black won in runaway fashion on his belated reappearance at Hamilton recently. That success was gained in maiden company and he now steps into a handicap off a mark of 76 which does not look prohibitive. He lacks the experience of his rivals, but hopefully, he can overcome that disadvantage by confirming himself a talented racer.

Also worth noting at the Cumbrian course are Centre Haafhd (7.10), trained by David Barron, and Incurs Four Faults (9.10), a decisive winner at Hamilton last week.

At Musselburgh this afternoon, Megan Carberry has come in for the ride on Maoi Chinn Tire, who ran out an easy winner at Thirsk last week.

Jenny Candlish has this gelding in excellent heart and a follow up victory looks on the cards in the Download New Racing UK IPad App Handicap under Carberry, who is making an impact this season as a 7lb claimer riding out of Brian Ellison's Norton yard.

Henrytheaeroplane looked a promising sort when finishing third in a novice event at Haydock on his debut and punters will doubtless be keen on his chances in the British Stallion Studs Maiden Stakes.

Richard Fahey's juvenile, who will be partnered by Tony Hamilton may have most to fear from Moonlightnavigator, an expensive purchase trained by John Quinn, who showed sure signs of potential when fifth to the highly-regarded Flaming Spear at York recently. This extra furlong will suit him.

Recent winner Testa Rossa (2.00) and Flash City (4.00), who was beaten less than a length into third by Rich Again at Haydock last Friday, are two others to consider on the seven-race card.
