A FOUR-POINT haul propelled Acomb to the top of division two in the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League

They now lead the table by a point from Easingwold, while Dringhouses' challenge lost momentum when they conceded their fixture at Easingwold.

Acomb beat Raskelf by seven wickets on the Monday and were then handed the points when New Earswick failed to raise a side - the fourth time they have conceded this campaign.

Raskelf made 100-6, Harry Ellis top-scoring with 36 not out and Sam Porter adding 21, with Christian Burton taking 2-15.

The home reply saw Mark Williamson make 50 retired and Joe Dale 21 not out as they reached a winning 102-3 in the 15th over. Porter claimed 2-31.

Raskelf were in action again midweek, and they took the points at Civil Service.

Matthew Goddard and Sam Porter each made 50s as they posted 133-5. The Civil Service reply closed on 91-7 as Porter took 2-12 Josh Summerscales 2-21. Iain Tessier top-scored for the hosts with 21.

Rowntrees & Huntington batted first when they took on Crayke. Jack Hugill made 41, Dave Ward 21 and John Overton 29 as they reached 133-8, with Charlie Wentworth (2-28) and W Reed (2-14) doing well.

The Crayke reply saw Mark Hutchinson make 22, but it subsided to 68 all out with Neil Davidson (2-11), Richard Shaw (2-9) and Jack Hugill (2-4) doing the damage.

In division one, Alne batted first when they entertained leaders Thirsk.

Louis Cox' 31, Tom Wilson's 27 and 15 not out from Duncan Stirke did most to take them to 105-7, Jake Petty (3-20) and James Wilkinson (2-16) taking the bowling honours for the visitors.

Keiran Fenwick (40) and Stuart Christon (33) led the Thirsk reply to 109-5 despite George Clark's 2-4.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge continue to challenge following a comfortable success at the expense of bottom side Clifton Alliance.

Bridge were indebted to Paul Scaling (57) and Dan Kiernan (34) for making the bulk of their 126-3, Will Moll being the outstanding Clifton bowler in claiming 3-20.

Jamie Butt made 33 not out in the Clifton reply, but they closed well behind on 66-4 once Mark Fisher had taken 2-1.

Sessay beat a Helperby side whose form has dipped in recent weeks.

Stuart Peirse (19), Matthew Wass (28), Chris Till (27no), Jacob Spencer (23) and Joe Watson (22) took Sessay to 151-8, with Helperby bowlers Charlie Grasby (3-32), Atish Chouhan (2-24) and Lewis Rees-Hughes (2-38) all enjoying some success.

The Helperby reply began promisingly with Dan Marston finding the boundary with regularity, but he was caught off Chris Spence's first delivery for 41 and the innings lost its momentum to close on 107-5, Spence finishing with 2-33.

Newburgh continue to edge to safety after a comfortable win over visiting Sheriff Hutton.

Sheriff batted first and made 113-9, Joe Schofield and Tom Harrison each making 24 and David Hull 19.

Dave Taylor took 4-26 for the hosts and Tommy Banks claimed 2-8 from an accurate five-over spell, as well as taking three catches to aid Newburgh's cause.

Banks then provided the cornerstone of the home reply, batting through the innings to make an unbeaten 45 with support coming fromRob Proudley, with 24, and Josh Sargent, with 26, as Newburgh won at 117-3 with two overs to spare.
