A man stopped by police on his return to the UK from Libya is due to appear in court today charged with terror offences.

Abdul Rahman Benhammedi, of Springbridge Road in Whalley Range, Manchester, was stopped at Manchester Airport on July 4.

Officers from the North West Counter Terrorism Unit (NWCTU) launched an investigation following the 20-year-old's arrest, Greater Manchester Police said.

He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court charged with possession of an article for a purpose connected with terrorism.
