JO HODGES closed on 95 as Tramways powered to the top of the York John Smith's Ladies Darts League first division with a 6-3 win against visitors Marcia 'B'.

Ox 'A' had Denise Fowler, pictured, gaming in 24 darts as they built a 4-2 lead against visiting Burnholme, whose Sharon Neads and Carole Salkeld, plus Lynne Willstrop and Claire Murphy levelled.

However, the Ox axis of Sandra Bruce and Flossy Crampton sealed victory.

City Supporters' captain Tracey Farmeary hit 135, 133, 100, though a finish eluded here. Wins from Dawn Exton, Muriel and Michelle Britton, and Jill Reed enabled visitors Fulfordgate to enter the pairs 4-2 up.

Lynne Clapham and Gina Whittaker narrowed the gap before mother and daughter Muriel and Michelle Briton secured the win.

In division two, Kate Rankeillor and Roz Richmond hit the tons for an under-strength Acomb to draw level with visiting Severus 'A'.

After the singles, Rankeillor and Richmond teamed up to edge the home side ahead en route to victory.

Bootham Conservative Club were denied a full house in the singles by Edinburgh's Julie Stables before Julia Hagyard and Kate Barnes, and the pairing of Jane Barnes and Jackie Clemit, added to the club team's tally.

Ox increased their hold on top spot in division three despite a shaky start when trailing 1-0 to Leeman's Margaret Schofield. LInda Staveley started a six-win run for Ox to lay the foundation for a 6-3 triumph.

Sandra Pallister top-scored fore Burton WMC against visitors Saddle, whose last pairing of Vicky McClaren and captain Doreen England claimed the decisive points.

Division three teams are reminded that Marcia Grey will be playing at Jubilee from now on.
