YORK City’s new home kit will go on sale at Saturday’s pre-season friendly at home to Sheffield Wednesday, kick-off 3pm, writes Dave Flett.

The club have also changed their away strip for next season with summer signing Jake Hyde and skipper Russell Penn modelling the designs.

Manufactured by Nike, the home top has a granddad-shirt collar, while the away shirt is sky blue and white.

The Minstermen will wear the new home kit against the Owls and it can be bought from 11am to 7pm at the club shop or, from 11am to 3pm, during Sunday’s Family Fun Day at Bootham Crescent.

Last season’s main sponsors Benenden Health have renewed their commitment to the club for another year and Synergy Cleaning will also continue as back-of-shirt sponsors.

Ryedale-based Helmsley Computers, meanwhile, have taken over as back-of- short sponsors.

On the decision to change strips, communications director Sophie Hicks said: “These are really exciting times at York City as the club looks to maintain the momentum from last season’s play-off push.

“This is really the first time Nigel Worthington has been able to properly assemble his own squad of players and, with eight new players in the squad, it feels appropriate to start the season in a new kit.”
