Darts: Severus 'A' come good against strong 'B' team

ANN MEEK gamed 21, which included a 125, as Severus 'B' took a 4-2 advantage into the pairs in their York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League division two match against their 'A' team, who came good in the pairs.
Sue Richardson and Davina Shannon narrowed the gap, captain Glynnis Simpson and Jackie Simpson set up a deciding leg, which saw 'A' team colleagues Sue Clark and Carol Robson snatch victory.
Bootham Cons Club’s Dot Trousdale and Julia Hagyard gave them a 2-0 advantage at Acomb, who replied through Lisa Benton, Roz Richmond and Kate Rankeillor.
However, they were their last points as Jane Barnes kick-started the club side’s winning surge.
Heather Bulmer, Brenda Dawe and Vicki Capes enabled Jubilee to enter the pairs on level terms with visitors Green Tree, Jackie Young, Janine Cartwright and captain Alison Buckley levelling.
Young and Cartwright edged Tree in front, then Bulmer and Julie Oliver set up the decider, which Sonya Love and Kerry Humble won for Tree to take home match points.
Sandra Bruce included a 180 for a 20-dart game in her singles for Ox 'B' in division one.
Visitors Fulfordgate had captain Michelle Britton also hit a maximum and colleague Jill Reed closing bull as they raced into a 4-2 lead.
Bruce and Sue Tate, then Maggie Tottie and Denise Fowler levelled the tie.
Reed combined with colleague Shona Benson to snatch match points.
The top two met, Carole Layne (141) and Jo Hodges giving home team Tramways a 2-0 start. City captain Tracey Farmeary replied before Karen Alton restored the advantage.
Tina Platt and Bev Harton (92, 100) levelled, Lynne Clapham and Sue Turpin gave visitors Cit the advantage.
However, Layne and Judy Hall set up the decider which saw player of the night Platt combine with Jayne Janes seal victory by the meanest of margins.
Faye Hawksby (140, 100) and Barbara Russell edged Marcia 'B' in front of their 'A' team, whose captain Di Moreland narrowed the gap.
Joan Hunter made the score 3-1, however wins from Clare Cooper and Ellen Platt sent the match into the pairs all square. Cooper and Penny Frankson, then Moreland and Platt sealed victory for the 'A' team.
With division three front-runners Ox 'A' having their free week, Shoulder made the most of it, being prevented from a full house by Saddle’s Vicky McClaren to move into second place. Vicky Sellers hit two bulls in her win.
Leeman also took advantage to move closer. Debbie and Charlotte Witts and Margaret Schofield gaining points at Sun, whose Chris Turgoose, Danielle Ford and Freda Harman replied.
However a strong hand in the pairs by the visitors saw Leeman take a clean sweep for a 6-3 result.
Maggie Bedingham led from the front in the singles, inspiring Marcia Grey into a 4-2 advantage at Burton WMC, Emma Barker and Eileen Haw sealing victory.
