THE Yesterday Once More photograph on a production line is indeed the carriageworks, NE on the wagon indicating the North Eastern Railway (The Press, June 16).

One of my great-grandfathers was a joiner on the NE Railway and could well be in the photograph. His death certificate of 1910 states that in the course of his duties, he was accidentally knocked down and killed by the Oxford to York express at Askham Bog signal box. He left a widow and three children still living at home.

There was a report of his death in the Aberdeen Journal, February 1910; doubtless there is one in the Yorkshire Evening Press of that date.
