Sir - There are a few things that my colleague councillor Lucy Hodgson and I will remember about the recent elections.

Like the man who was a tad short with me but then came after us to explain he’d had a long day. Then there was the bell which fell off when Lucy rang it and had to be handed over when the door opened.

We’ll also both remember the young lad who was worried his nonna (grandma), who has lived in England for over half a century, would have to go back to Italy if UKIP took power.

We’re pleased to report that we found the people of Warndon Villages invariably polite, sometimes concerned and rarely disengaged - despite us disturbing their evening meals or Saturday lie-in.

We listened to points and suggestions and had the chance to raise some national issues raised with our MP Robin Walker even before the vote was counted.

We have also taken the point that in addition to our quarterly newsletter, free-post postcard and attendance at the monthly Parish Council meeting, more personal contact might be helpful outside of election time. As a pilot we intend to knock on doors in different areas throughout the year.

We are grateful for help given and the support of those who voted Conservative at the election and we undertake to do the best we can for the community and individuals (whatever their political persuasion).
