TICKET prices at York City are rising next season.

The cost of buying a season ticket to watch Minstermen manager Nigel Worthington's warriors will increase and match admission prices will also go up by £1.

An adult season ticket for the David Longhurst Stand now costs £275 (before June 30) - an increase of £20 on last year - and equates to £11.96 per match, while the new on the turnstile price for the 2014/15 campaign is £18.

Fans aged under-12 will still be able to buy a season ticket anywhere in the ground for only £50 - the equivalent of £2.17 a game.

Most season tickets will cost more if they are bought after June 30 with the club continuing a three stage pricing structure.

Once the 'early bird' period has expired, a new increased price is in effect up to July 31 with a further rise taking effect from August 1.

Season ticket prices have remained the same in the two years the club have been in the Football League and chiefs at Bootham Crescent said the "difficult decision to increase the price of tickets very slightly" had been taken to keep "the club in line with our League Two rivals".

In a message sent to supporters asking them to renew, Worthington said: "The club has obviously taken the difficult decision to make a small increase in the price of a ticket for next season.

"It is not a decision the club has taken lightly. Everyone is aware these are still difficult times economically for a lot of people.

"But the increase has been kept to a minimum and watching professional football at York City still represents fantastic value when compared with ticket prices at rival clubs."

Mini season tickets, for ten home matches, will go on sale from December 1.

Sophie Hicks, the club's communications and community director, said: “We performed a full review of the season ticket and day admission prices of clubs in League Two and even with the slight price increase, York City remains competitively priced.

"It is clearly advantageous to buy a season ticket before June 30, when an adult can watch matches from the David Longhurst Stand for under £12 per game. We are very much committed to encouraging the next generation of support and I’m pleased to say we continue to offer season tickets to Under-12s for only £50, which equates to only £2.17 per match.

"We hope fans share our view that following York City is still good value for money and will support the club and the team by purchasing a season ticket for the coming season.”
