WES Fletcher won York City's goal of the season because of the build-up play and quality of his finish.
The header, during September's 4-2 home victory over Portsmouth, was selected by City chief Nigel Worthington and his backroom team ahead of other favourites from the likes of Josh Carson and Ryan Brobbel.
Fletcher was rewarded for the accolade at the club's presentation night with Worthington explaining: "I thought it was a very good team goal with the build-up and the way the Ryan Jarvis' ball came in from the right side.
"It wasn't an easy finish either. He had to flick his neck and adjust his body to get the ball inside the post and, between me and the other staff, we decided that one was the right choice."
