CRAWLEY Town are heading the chase to sign York City’s out-of- contract right-back Lanre Oyebanjo.

The London-born 24-year-old is expected to be offered a new deal at Bootham Crescent but, after three years in North Yorkshire, is understood to be keen on a move back to his southern roots.

John Gregory - manager of League One Crawley - has run the rule over Oyebanjo during the second half of City’s season and would be entitled to sign the ex-West Ham trainee on a free transfer under the Bosman ruling.

With 46 appearances to his name in 2013/14, Oyebanjo played more games for City than any player other than fellow full-back Ben Davies.

Since joining from Histon, the ex-Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has played 103 times for the Minstermen and scored three goals, including the first in 2012’s 2-0 FA Trophy final victory over Newport.

FA Cup finalists Hull City have confirmed they will visit Bootham Crescent for a pre-season friendly on Wednesday, July 23, kick-off 7.30pm.

Hulls’ first friendlies will be two days earlier when matches at North Ferriby United and Harrogate Town take place on the same night.

Nigel Worthington’s old club Sheffield Wednesday will also visit Bootham Crescent for their first pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 12, kick-off 3pm.
