KIERAN FALLON, fresh from his shock 40-1 success on Night Of Thunder in last Saturday's 2,000 Guineas, is set to be firmly in the spotlight at York next week when he teams-up with live Derby hope True Story in the Dante Stakes.

This evening, though, he's in action at Thirsk, a familiar hunting ground for the 49-year-old jockey earlier in his career when he lived in Malton and was riding for Lynda Ramsden and the late Jimmy FitzGerald.

Fallon, who is on duty at Haydock this afternoon, will cross the M62 for five mounts at Thirsk. He could quite easily have two or three winners.

Famous Kid is arguably his most likely chance of reaching the number-one spot. Trained by Saeed bin Suroor for Godolphin, for whom Fallon is now a prominent fixture, the three-year-old shaped well on his debut at Newmarket last month to finish fourth. He carries the nap vote.

The Thomas Lord Dine & View Restaurant Maiden Stakes looks a suitable opportunity for Famous Kid in which to break his duck

North Yorkshire trainers have been quick off the mark to secure Fallon's services.

He rides twice for Kevin Ryan and could well strike on Bapak Bangsawan, who has been in good form on the all-weather, in the Dick Peacock Sprint Handicap.

Middleham handler Phil Kirby has booked Fallon for Eltheeb in the GT Group Handicap, which promises to be significant. The seven-year-old, who has some decent Flat form, is fit from hurdling.

Elsewhere on the Thirsk card, a note should be made of Mick Easterby's Kraka Gym (5.40), following a good run at Beverley recently, and the Mark Walford-trained Flexible Flyer (7.40), a winner on this course last month.

Ascot's afternoon programme is highlighted by the £7.5 Million Totescoop6 Victoria Cup over seven furlongs.

Unsurprisingly, this is a wide-open event and a real head-scratcher for punters, but Heavens Guest, back in handicap company and with George Chaloner claiming 3lb, has to be of interest racing over a course-and-distance where he won last season.

Cap O'Rushes, who showed some high-class form last season as a three-year-old, is the type to progress further this season.

The mount of Silvestre de Sousa, he reappears in the Carey Group Buckhounds Stakes, which presents him with a winning opportunity before he steps back up to Group-race company.

James Fanshawe is gradually getting his horses into top gear and the Newmarket trainer has leading claims with Ribbons in the Sodexho Fillies' Handicap.

A most progressive performer last season, Ribbons should have benefited greatly from her runner-up effort on the all-weather three weeks ago. Back on turf and with that race under her belt, she is fancied to take plenty of beating under Hayley Turner.

Semeen makes plenty of appeal in the opening Leo Bancroft Signature Haircare Handicap.

Trainer Luca Cumani is particularly adept at placing his older horses and Semeen has the profile of a horse who could make further strides up the ladder this season.

Megan Carberry, who is attached to Brian Ellison's Norton stable, makes her first visit to Ascot to team-up with Ask Dad in the Espirito Santo Investment Bank Handicap.

Trained by Damian English in Ireland, the gelding shaped well at the Curragh on his latest start. He could give Carberry, who is making a good impression this season, a happy Ascot christening.
