YORK Lokomotive ARLC go to Scarborough Pirates 'A' in Yorkshire Men's League group two with coach Simon Moat warning their hosts' opening-day nightmare was probably a freak.

The Pirates crashed 74-14 to Castleford Panthers 'A' last Saturday but Moat reckons the Panthers fielded a lot of first-teamers as their top side had no game in the National Conference League.

The Lokos, meanwhile, go into the game cheered by their performance in the Majorca Beach Rugby tournament last weekend, when they finished third out of 42 teams from across Europe. Lokos also beat Heworth 'A' in their league opener the previous week.

Moat said: "Scarborough view this as their biggest game of the season, their local derby, and they are always really keyed up for it. Our lads will have to match their enthusiasm.

"They got well beaten by Cas Panthers but given Cas fielded a lot of first-teamers, we can't read anything into that result."

Andy Rayner is unavailable for Lokos so Leon Ford takes his place in the centre.

Jib Oki is available to make his debut, while Matthew Chapman and Mark Musgrave are also in the squad having missed the Heworth game.

In Majorca, the Lokos' topped their seven-team group, beating the 2013 winners, Spanish outfit Ponent, along the way. On day two, they worked their way through the knockout stages to the last four, only to lose their semi-final. They then won the third/fourth place play-off.

They have been invited back in 2015.

Chapman, who played in the tournament, said: "The standard surprised us - it was pretty good. It was also a very good weekend on the social side of things. Overall it was a great trip."

Heworth 'A' host Normanton 'A' in the YML group two, while York Acorn 'A' host West Hull Lions 'A' in the Yorkshire Men's League premier division.
