THE York Mixed Darts League summer season started with a brilliant 19-dart leg from Chris Matthews as Tramways ‘B’ beat Railway Institute 4-3.
Matthews got Tramways off to a fine start thanks to a 140 and two 100s before Graeme Cockerill and Sandra Bruce put Institute on the scoresheet.
Roy Cockerill and Chris Bullen added to RI’s tally, but Tramways won thanks to wins for Col Rowntree and Sharon Neads then Steve Smith.
A marvellous 100 finish for 30-darts from Doreen Johnson and a 23-dart leg from Paul Partridge gave Golden Slipper a 4-3 win over Falcon.
Allan Graham and Becky Thompson won for Tramways ‘A’ in a 5-2 loss to Severus, for whom Dean Cairnes hit three 140s.
