THREE games in three days won't faze York Cricket Club this weekend.

The Clifton Parkers have a trio of road trips to contemplate with Solly Sports Yorkshire ECB County Premier League trips to Rotherham on Saturday and Castleford on Bank Holiday Monday bookending the rearranged ECB National Club Championship first round tie at Whitburn on Sunday.

After a heavy opening day league defeat to Yorkshire Academy, York were more like their old selves in trouncing Appleby Frodingham by 146 runs last weekend.

With the Shipton Road bowlers restricting their opponents to just 71 runs, vice-captain Nick Kay said it was now time for the batsmen to weigh in as the seven-in-a-row league champions look to push on in their defence of their crown.

"It's not something we haven't had to do in the past," he said of the hat-trick of away games.

"We are quite used to three games on a Bank Holiday. It comes with the territory. Rotherham is one of our toughest away fixtures. They have quite a good record over us there and that will test us at this stage of the season.

"If we can put the performance in with the ball that we did against Appleby Frodingham then we would be in a position to dominate the game. We were fabulous with the ball against Appleby and restricting teams to 70 runs is where we want to be.

"Rotherham have got a very good seam attack but their weakness might be in their batting."

Kay admitted York still know little about Tyneside-based Whitburn, but he added: "We've done a bit of homework on Whitburn during the week.

"We know they play at quite a small ground and have a couple of lads with a history at Durham. They will have a couple of match winners but we should be strong enough to get through to the next round."

On Castleford, Kay said: "Castleford are an improving side and a young side. We tend to enjoy playing there and it will help that we will be playing a full side. I would like to see the batsmen score more runs. We have underperformed in that department in the first two games and have left a lot of runs out on the pitch - getting in and getting out."

Captain Dan Woods and bowler Ben Coad will be in the team that travels north on Sunday but Ryan McKendry is not available meaning Richard Love keeps his place. Travis Ilka, the club's overseas signing, is yet to land and Dave Patmore is likely to remain in the first XI on Saturday and Monday.

Kay misses out against Whitburn.
