POCKLINGTON RUFC’s senior season may be over but there is a weekend double bill for both the Pilgrims and Pocklington under-14s.

Chris Mudd’s Pilgrims hit top spot in the East Yorkshire division two merit table just after Christmas and stayed there, finishing well clear of their rivals.

After a convincing play-off semi-final win over fourth-placed Scarborough, they play Marist 1st XV in the final at Hull Ionians tomorrow, kick-off 1.30 pm.

Before that, however, the Pilgrims will have to safely negotiate a tour match today at Burton under Netherwood, which was a long-standing engagement.

The tour bus will now dash back to Ionians in time for the final against a Marist team who started the season off in the RFU Yorkshire League Division Five before deciding to drop down to merit table rugby.

Meanwhile, Pocklington U14s entertain Lancashire tourists, Tarleton, at Percy Road, today (11.30am ko) and then tomorrow go to Beverley to play triangular fixtures against the hosts and North East tourists Percy Park from 11.30am.

Pocklington’s mini-rugby presentation event is tomorrow at 10.30am.
