BRONZE, silver and gold medals were won by athletes representing Special Olympics City of York in the Yorkshire & Humberside regional boccia and short mat bowls tournaments.

A group of five boccia players from 1st York Boccia Club and four short mat bowlers from New Earswick Indoor Bowls Club took part in the competition at Bradford’s Richard Dunn Centre.

Boccia players Lisa Watson and Sam Hinde lost only one game in gaining silver in their division, while Peter Ridsdale, Laura Watson and Mark Mason won all their games to scoop gold.

In the short mat tournament, a pairs event, Michael Millson teamed up with Chris Harrison, while Melony Thompson partnered Colin Cartwright, and they won bronze medals in their respective divisions.

Thompson, representing City of York, won the hot shot competition for the most accurate bowler.
