HEWORTH ARLC were blitzed by rampant Featherstone Lions as they lost 60-12 in National Conference League division three.

The Villagers, playing only their second home game of the campaign, trailed 32-6 at the break and were unable to live with the pace and slick handling of the league leaders.

The Lions ran in 11 tries in extending their unbeaten start to seven consecutive matches, whilst the hosts were only able to manage a touchdown in each half in response.

The visitors exerted their authority by racing in for four tries in the opening 18 minutes through loose forward Brendan Gibbins, stand-off Rich Frankland, Adam Hepworth and full-back Jake Perkins, with Frankland adding two conversions.

Heworth pulled one back on 31 minutes when second rower Liam Richmond went over under the posts from a pass by Danny Allan, who also added the extras.

The Lions added two further tries by centre Ian Jackson and Hepworth, both of which Frankland goaled for a 32-6 interval lead.

Featherstone forged further ahead immediately after the break with converted touchdowns for winger Dan Dixon and second rower Matty Johnson before loose forward Jonny Payne crossed for Heworth with a solo effort from 15 metres out and Allan added the conversion.

The rout was completed with the Lions going on to register three more tries in the final quarter, by scrum-half Kevin Eadie, a second for Dixon and second rower Danny Glassell, together with a conversion apiece for Frankland and prop Craig Barker.

Youngster Richmond took the man of the match award for the Villagers, while Payne and under-18s substitute forward Connor Page also caught the eye.

Meanwhile, York Acorn lost 48-20 in division one.
