TADCASTER ALBION are offering free admission to all spectators for tomorrow's clash against Barton Town Old Boys.

With York and Hull without matches, the Brewers owners i2i Sports are urging fans to come to Ings Lane and watch the sides who are second and third in the Northern Counties East League premier division go head to head.

Brighouse Town may be huge favourites to lift the title, but Albion boss Paul Marshall wants his side to push them all the way to the end of the campaign and hopes a large crowd will take advantage of the free tickets to come and cheer his lads on against a tough Barton outfit that went 23 games unbeaten earlier in the season.

Tadcaster played in front of 500 spectators when Pickering Town were thumped 5-0 last month and Marshall said the inspiring effect the crowd had that day could push his side on to another victory if the atmosphere is replicated.

"It's a great opportunity for people to come and see a good game," he said. "We want to try and tie up second place and it is a not going to be an end of season dead rubber. Both teams will be giving it everything and the crowd mkes it great for the players.

"It's always great to play in front of a lot of people, rather than two men and a dog, and it will inspire their lads as well as ours."

Joel Dixon is away for Tadcaster but Josh Barrett and Richard Batley return to the squad.

Pickering Town boss Mitch Cook is hoping top scorer Joe Danby will be fit as his side contemplate a trip to Thackley in the NCEL premier division.

Danby, who has 32 goals for the Pikes this season, missed the 3-0 win against Heanor Town at the Recreation Ground last weekend following a pulled hamstring in a 1-0 midweek victory at Bridlington Town.

With the Pikes having recovered from their Tadcaster loss in some style - recording four straight victories and climbing to sixth in the table - Cook is keen to keep that run going through his side’s remaining two games.

"We have 75 points now and we have got two more games to go and both are winnable," he said. "We have to travel and that is always a difficult proposition but we can look towards 81 points and it is about whether we can get there.

"We have got more than last season and there has been good progression. We want that to continue."

Selby Town are craving the end of the season. The Robins lost 4-0 at fifth placed Eccleshill in NCEL division one during the week - their third defeat in a row. Manager Jimmy Reid and his men will hope to lick their wounds when they go to Hallam for their penultimate league match.

Knaresborough Town, whose run of 11 games without losing was ended last weekend in a 2-0 reverse at AFC Emley, host Dronfield Town in NCEL division one on a high after reaching the final of the League Cup.

Town won 1-0 at Long Eaton United on Wednesday night.

Harrogate Town’s slim hopes of making the Conference North playoffs were ended by Guiseley on Tuesday night. Now they only have to pride to play for as they bid to end a run of seven games without a win at North Ferriby United.

Former York City striker Adam Boyes was among the Guiseley scorers in a 2-0 win which kept Town manager Simon Weaver’s men in eighth place but now 11 points behind their local rivals, who occupy the final play-off position in fifth, with only three games remaining.

Harrogate Railway host Cammell Laird in the Evo-Stik League first division north while, in the south, Scarborough Athletic are at Gresley.
