SCRUM-HALF Jonny Presley has been named the Kingstone Press Championship One Player of the Week after his four-try haul in York City Knights' record win.

He is joined in the Team of the Week by a trio of team-mates, after the Knights capped their winning start to the season with a club record league victory - of 76-0 - over South Wales Scorpions on Sunday.

The three are winger George Elliott, prop Austin Bell - for the second league game on the trot - and loose-forward Lee Paterson.

It could have been more, too, with The Press man of the match James Haynes the most surprising omission.

Head coach Gary Thornton said of Presley: “Jonny was very good and has been all season. He was on hand to finish four tries himself, but he also created quite a few others as well. I was delighted with his performance.

“We’ve got three very good pivots this year in Jonny, Pat Smith and Benn Hardcastle, and we’ve some real selection headaches there.

“But Jonny is one of our most experienced players in a very young team, and it’s great to see him setting such a good example for the younger guys.”

It is the second time the Knights have dominated the star team, having had three players in the 13 for the win at arch-rivals Hunslet.

Ex-Knights David March, of Hunslet, Ryan Macdonald, on loan at London Skolars, and Jy-Mel Coleman, of Hemel Stags, are also in this week's 13.

Former Knights loanee Nev Morrison was named on the wing in the Championship Team of the Week after helping Doncaster rise to second in the table with a shock 22-16 victory over Featherstone.
