YORK Knavesmire Harriers’ fell running renaissance gathered pace at the eight-mile Glaisdale Race near Whitby.

Knavesmire’s Chris Roberts was second overall, while new recruit Anwen Darlington was second woman home and Barry Atkinson was first in the M50 category.

The Harriers won the men’s team competition with four runners in the top ten and, thanks to their strength in depth, finished as the third placed team.

Glaisdale was the 12th of the 15 races which comprise the NEHRA Winter Series and Roberts is the series leader in the overall and open male categories, while Giles Hawking leads the M40 section.

Barry Atkinson is roaring up the standings in the M50 age group. He is second but has not yet run the full eight races to count and looks to be in a good position to rise to the top.

Andrew Johnson is second in the M55 Category, and the club are second in the series team competition behind Esk Valley.
