SHARP-SHOOTERS whose clubs are in the middle of contrasting form are in direct opposition in tomorrow’s Roses duel between Leeds United and Burnley.
United head to Turf Moor reeling by two home defeats in which they conceded nine goals, while the Clarets are on a superb run of form as they seek to gain automatic promotion from the Championship.
The clash pits Leeds 24-goal hitman Ross McCormack against a home attack led by Danny Ings, who has plundered 25 goals.
However, whereas Ings has a great ally in 19-goal Sam Vokes, United’s striking impetus is largely borne by McCormack, though there are hopes that loan signing Connor Wickham will soon ease the burden.
As the Roses showdown looms, off the field the planned takeover of Leeds by Italian businessman Massimo Cellino rumbles on.
Leeds managing director David Haigh has insisted there is “no chance” of the club going into administration amid rumours of Cellino walking away if his takeover plan is not approved by the Football League with whom further talks are planned.
