Darts: Jayne Janes checks out 126 to spur on City Supporters

JAYNE JANES set the tone with a 126 checkout as leaders City Supporters thrashed Magnet 8-1 in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

Janes fired treble 20, double 20 and double 13 and was ably supported by Natalie Farmeary, Tracey Farmeary, Sue Turpin, Tina Platt and Bev Harton.

Magnet’s lone point came from Wendy Shortle and Sue Tate in the first pairs leg.

Five Lions raced into a 4-0 advantage against Severus ‘A’ as Anne Bass, Muriel Britton, Michelle Britton and Dawn Exton cashed in.

Captain Glynnis Simpson and Davina Shannon put the hosts on the board before the visitors polished off the remaining games.

Tramways won 7-2 at home to Slipper. Elaine Metcalfe won Slipper’s only singles point and then partnered Doreen Johnstone to double the tally.

Acomb were saved from a whitewash by Rose Gray as visitors Marcia ‘B’ won 8-1. Linda Welch and Joan Hunter top-scored for the victors.

Jane Barnes, Kate Barnes and Jackie Calpin hit the tons as Bootham Conservative Club left Marcia ‘A’ with a resounding 7-2 win, despite Clair Cooper’s scores of 140, 100 and 100.

Burnholme were 6-3 winners at home to Edinburgh, Lynne Wilstrop and Carole Salkeld sealing the victory.

The battle for honours in division two is hotting up as leaders Severus ‘B’ left Marcia Grey with a 6-3 result. After a clean sweep in the singles for Sev, the home side found their mark in the pairs as Emma Barker closed on 82 and Tracey Scurr hit the tons.

Castle Howard Ox enhanced their chances with an 8-1 win at Leeman. Alison Walker, Wendy Sullivan, Nikki Johnson, Nella Majsterek, Linda Staveley and Abbie Scott secured victory before Debbit Witts and Margaret Yeomans broke Leeman’s duck.

Woolpack edged past Burton WMC 5-4 as Sharon Nelson and Vicky McClaren snatched match points.

Alice and Cris Turgoose won the final pairs to clinch a 5-4 victory over Jubilee, while Alison Buckley top scored as Green Tree won 5-4 against an understrength Turpin team.
