TADCASTER Albion beat visitors Worksop Parramore 1-0 to cling on to top spot in the Northern Counties East League premier division.

A tenth-minute goal from captain Nick Thompson was enough to see off tenth-placed Worksop at Ings Lane, while title rivals Barton Town Old Boys were thrashing Pickering 6-2.

Barton are only three points behind Albion – whose Calum Ward had a late penalty saved – with three games in hand, and a superior goal difference.

The Pikes trailed 3-0 at half-time to goals from Ryan Cooper, Ashley Lattimore and Ashley Dexter, and Scott Phillips added a fourth on 64 minutes.

Tony Hackworth scored from the spot for Pickering on 67 minutes and added a second six minutes later, but two late goals from Gareth Barlow sealed Barton’s win.

The division one North Yorkshire derby went the way of Knaresborough as they beat visitors Selby Town 3-1.

The sides were level at the break, Daniel O’Connor’s 41st-minute strike for the Robins cancelling out Paul Stansfield’s 31st-minute opener.

Knaresborough seized control in the first minute of the second period with a Colin Heath goal and George Eustance got a late third.

Harrogate Town are only one point off the Conference North play-off places after a 2-1 win over Solihull.

Chris Hall gave the Wetherby Road hosts the lead on two minutes and, although Moors levelled with a penalty on 17 minutes, Ashley Worsfold’s 38th minute strike won it.

Jimmy Beadle scored the only goal on the stroke of half-time as Scarborough Athletic beat visitors Bedworth United 1-0 in Evo-Stik League division one south.

Harrogate Railway Athletic lost 1-0 at Curzon Ashton in division one north, Ryan Brooke scoring the goal.
