Apprentice Jack Garritty can gain a second win on behalf of his new Malton sponsors at Lingfield today.

The teenage rider, son of former crack North Yorkshire jump jockey Russ Garritty, was taken on last month by Wendy Hoggard’s White Rose Saddlery and within a matter of days rode a winner on Volito at Lingfield, with the White Rose named emblazoned on his breeches.

Garritty can further reward White Rose for supplying him with all his racing and riding-out gear by winning on the same horse this afternoon.

Volito has since chalked up another course win for trainer Annabel Murphy and is on a roll at the moment.

It would be no surprise to see the gelding complete a hat-trick tomorrow with Garritty back on board in the bookmakers.co.uk Handicap.

Middleham trainer Mark Johnston has every chance of completing a first-and-last race double with Travel and Tizlove Regardless. Both will be ridden by Joe Fanning.

Travel made an encouraging reappearance at Southwell recently to finish third on her first appearance of the year. She may well be sharper as a result of that outing and is not one to overlook in the opening Coral Mobile Handicap.

Tizlove Regardless, who lines up in the 32Red.com Handicap, was a winner on this course last weekend. That was a decisive victory, by two and a half lengths, and a 6lb penalty may not stop the three-year-old from completing a quick double.

In the Best Odds At bookmakers.co.uk Maiden Stakes, Double Up is an interesting newcomer. Trained by Roger Varian, this son of Exceed And Excel cost 90,000gns as a yearling. He might not need to be any more than of average ability to make a winning debut.

Fanoos (3.20), who was narrowly beaten at Kempton on her recent comeback outing, and the promising Dance Of Heroes (4.25) are two others to note at the Polytrack venue.

At Southwell’s jumps meeting, Lord Navits goes for a quick hat-trick in the opening Best Odds Guaranteed At totepool.com Novices’ Handicap Chase.

Trained by David Bridgwater, who has high hopes that his stable star The Giant Bolster can make a bold show in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Lord Navits has won his last two races, at Leicester and Bangor, by an aggregate of 24 lengths. He will be a tough nut to crack.

Philip Hobbs has a decent team of horses lined up for the Cheltenham Festival and the Minehead trainer, whose string are in good form, can strike with nap selection Cloud Creeper in the totepool Casino Novices’ Hurdle.

Richard Johnson’s mount is overdue a winning turn after finishing runner-up on his three latest starts. His stamina may have been stretched when stepping up to two-and-three-quarter miles at Huntingdon last time and he is fancied to be better suited by this drop back again to two-and-a-half miles.

Barton Rose promises to be hard to beat in the totepool.com Novices’ Handicap Hurdle.

The five-year-old scored by an easy six lengths on her handicap debut at Plumpton last time out after being backed into 11-4 favouritism. A 7lb penalty makes things a bit tougher, but Barton Rose, trained by Neil Mulholland, has plenty going for her.
