A LATE flourish by York RI failed to pay off as they went down 16-14 at home to Halifax in Yorkshire Four.
The New Lane deadlock was broken when Baptiste Briu sold the Fax forwards an outrageous dummy to score under the posts and he added the conversion.
In the second half, the visitors brought on some heavy forwards and they scored two tries and two penalties to lead 16-7.
RI were not finished and Yohan Barthelemy crashed over the line for Briu to add the conversion, but RI narrowly lost.
