A TRIPLE-BOGEY eight ended North Yorkshire golfer Simon Dyson’s hopes of a top-five finish at the Tshwane Open in South Africa.

Dyson moved to 14 under par with two birdies in the opening four holes of his final round at the Copperleaf Golf and Country Estate in Centurion but slipped back with a bogey at the ninth and then an eight at the 11th hole.

A birdie at the 16th ensured the Malton & Norton Golf Club ace carded a 73 and got back to 11 under for the tournament, sealing a share of tenth place.

The tournament was won by Ross Fisher, whose closing round of 70 earned him a three-shot victory.
