IN-FORM Simon Dyson’s searing touch with his putter kept him well in contention for conquest in the Tshwane Open in South Africa.

The Yor  followed up a first-round 65 with a four-under-par 68 to go 11 under at the halfway stage with just two players ahead of him – fellow Englishman Ross Fisher (13 under) and Denmark’s Morten Orum Madsen (12 under).

Again it was another blazing inward half of yesterday’s round that maintained Dyson’s momentum.

Starting on the tenth hole of the Copperleaf Golf and Country Estate, a birdie on the 15th was erased by a dropped shot on the next hole. But he began his inward nine with a birdie, and while again that perished to a bogey on the tenth, Dyson then hit three birdies on the bounce followed by another on the seventh.

Said the 36-year-old: “My last ten holes I played nicely. Before that I was not quite on song, but I managed to correct it coming in and four-under is about right.”

Admitting that he did not start well, Dyson added: “I knew there were plenty of chances to come, I also knew that I was putting nicely, so I just stayed patient and hit good putts and eventually a few of them dropped.”
