New Earswick Indoor Bowls Club virtually sealed their status in the Yorkshire Over-55s League first division when they leapfrogged Doncaster after thrashing them 113-39 to amass a maximum 18-point haul.
At home, Bob Edwards’ side only lost five ends and ran out 34-5 winners.
Barry Harrison’s team led 17-2 before the visitors came back to 19-13 with two ends to play. They were both won by the home side to finish as 24-13 victors.
Away, the team led by Bill Waldie got off to a slow start, trailing 9-2 after four ends but they won the following 12 ends, scoring 22 shots, on their way to a 27-11 victory. Barry Johnson’s side led 17-3 after 12 ends before posting a 24-10 success.
