MARCIA ‘B’ captain Faye Hawksby conjured a 99 checkout to round off a 21-dart leg – but she finished on the losing side at Tramways in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

Sue Smith and Linda Welch were the other Marcia singles successes, but the teams entered the pairs all-square after Tramways wins by captain Sue Lowery, who had a 24-dart leg with an 88 checkout, Carole Layne and Karen Alton.

Layne and Judy Hall, then Lowery and Alton, secured victory for the home side.

Jackie Clemit won the opener for Bootham Club at City Supporters, but it was their only singles success as Natalie Farmeary started a landslide and Lynne Clapham sealed victory. Jackie Calpin and Janet Foster doubled Bootham’s tally.

Rose Gray, Lisa Benton and Kate Rankeillor were Acomb’s points scorers as they entered the pairs level with visitors Five Lions.

Lions captain Michelle Britton was in ton mode in a 24-dart pairs leg with Anne Bass, before Muriel Britton and Lynn Thompson secured match points.

Slipper made home advantage count against Magnet with wins for Elaine Metcalfe, Ann Parkyn, Doreen Johnstone and Vicky Middleton. Sandra Bruce and Tracey Watkinson replied for Magnet, but Johnstone teamed up with Anita Adams to seal the win.

Jane Dobson, Claire Murphy and Jean West gave Burnholme an ideal start at Marcia ‘A’, but the hosts responded through Clair Cooper, Babs Harrison and captain Di Moreland.

The visitors polished off the remaining legs for a 6-3 result.

Edinburgh raced into a 4-0 lead at Severus ‘A’, with Jan Netherwood, Amanda Bevan, Anthea Jamieson and Donna Lynes on target. Mavis Gallimore and Carol Robson narrowed the gap and Sev cleared up in the pairs with Robson and Sheila Elliott snatching match points.

Division two leaders Severus ‘B’ reinforced their position with a 7-2 win at Sun.

Cris Turgoose won the opener for the hosts, before Jeannette Stewart, Ann Meek, Dot Sellars and Michelle Kelly struck back. Alice Turgoose pulled one back before Sev cleared up in the pairs for a 7-2 win.

Despite being short-handed, Turpin managed three points in their defeat at home to Jubilee, with Becky Marmion having a hand in two.

Woolpack were 6-3 winners over Marcia Grey, whose captain Maggie Bedingham had a 64 checkout.

Burton were 6-3 winners at Leeman, with captain Linda Embleton leading the way.

Shoulder were two players light but put in a good team performance in going down 5-4 at Green Tree.

Shoulder were forced to concede the final pairs match.
