ACOMB’S second string were 4-1 winners at Ben Rhydding VI in Yorkshire Hockey League division five north.
The Tangerines took the lead with a first half goal from Sam Lynn, while Jonny Brown, Luke Yates and Matt Dickenson found the net in the second half.
An excellent defensive performance by skipper Dave Morris and vice-captain Andy Church made sure Ben Rhydding had limited scoring opportunities.
When the defence was breached, Steve Church dealt with them admirably.
The home side’s only goal came from an own goal when the ball struck defender Pete Hilton on the foot inside the Acomb ‘D’.
Despite the own goal, Hilton was joint man of the match with youngster Yates.
Acomb men’s I and the club’s ladies had no fixtures.
