CASTLEFORD Tigers starlet Ben Reynolds and prop Nathan Harper will make their bows for York City Knights’ under-20s reserves tonight when they host their Sheffield counterparts in a friendly at Huntington Stadium (8pm).

Mick Ramsden’s young charges will be looking to build on an encouraging first appearance of the year - a narrow defeat to Halifax - two weeks ago.

Dual-registered Reynolds, who could remain at York on dual-registration all year, will start the game at full-back but could also get a run at stand-off as head coach Gary Thornton ponders his options in what is his club’s final outing before the Championship One opener against Gloucestershire All Golds a week on Sunday.

Ex-Leeds, Wakefield and Castleford youth player Harper, who signed for York from Featherstone in the autumn, has been given the all-clear to play following an illness which has sidelined him throughout the first-team pre-season fixture schedule.

Winger George Elliott also plays knowing he needs to impress in the battle for a starting berth against Gloucestershire, while Thornton will again cast his eye over second-row Jack Pickles in his new prop position.

Knights season ticket holders can watch the game for free. General admission is £4, or £1 for U16s.

Knights U20s reserves: Reynolds, Elliott, A Dent, Rogers, Macdonald, Talbot, Morland, Pickles, Carter, Stubbs, Craig, Crane,Backhouse. Subs: Swift, Tomlinson, Batty, Harper.
