Acomb Hockey Club men’s II enjoyed a much-needed win when they beat visitors Adel IV 4-3 in Yorkshire League division five north.
Early lethargy saw Acomb trail 2-0 before Harry Ellis replied.
Adel struck again only for the lead to be halved by half-time after an Andy Smith strike.
Smith then combined with Ellis for the latter to level. Ellis then completed his hat-trick for Acomb to go ahead for the first time.
There was no chance of an Adel counter as the Tangerines’ defence excelled led by man of the match John Armitage.
Acomb Ladies lost 4-2 at Selby in the Yorkshire League second division.
