PICKERING TOWN boss Mitch Cook admits it won’t just be “another game” when Bridlington Town arrive at the Recreation Ground tomorrow.

Cook spent two years in charge of the Pikes’ Northern Counties East League premier division derby rivals and reckons there will be an edge to proceedings.

“I was manager there for two years and we had two really good years,” he said of his time with the coastal club.

“Bridlington’s reputation over the last five or six years has been excellent. It is a brilliantly well-run club.

“Obviously it is not just another game and I want to win. There’s a few players in our changing room (who used to play for Brid) that will be thinking the same thing. That’s how football is.

“We know what it will be. It is a game that will have an edge to it.”

Top scorer Joe Danby had to be replaced by Ged Dalton at half-time in Pickering’s 2-1 win over Retford last weekend but Cook believes he could be fit for the visit of Bridlington.

Maltby Main will prove a tough place to visit for Tadcaster Albion, reckons manager Paul Marshall.

“Maltby is a difficult place to go and the pitch isn’t the best,” he told the club’s website. “I know the manager Mick Norbury as he used to play for me at Goole, so I’m looking forward to seeing him again, but I know he’ll be out to beat us.

“We’re not taking anything for granted, though. This is a tough league.

“You only have to look at Parkgate beating Brighouse 3-0 last week. We need to be at our very best to get the all-important three points.”

A maximum haul is also what Selby Town chief Jimmy Reid has got his eye on as they host Dinnington in Northern Counties East League division one.

“It’s another game and we need three points,” he said as he prepared to welcome the league’s 19th-placed team to Flaxley Road.

“We have not had the rub of the green yet and if we can get that we will soon be off and running.

“We need to score a couple of goals and try to keep a clean sheet. We have got willing people, though, who are pulling in the right direction.

“If we can get going in the right way this will be a good club.”

Selby have moved to snap up former Pickering sentinel Dean MacAuley, who was on Reid’s coaching staff when he was at Mill Lane.

Elsewhere in division one, Knaresborough town travel to Yorkshire Amateur.
