GOALKEEPER Dan Montgomery scored with a bizarre wind-assisted clearance as Riccall United ramped up the pressure in the York Minster Engineering Football League premier division title race.

United’s 3-1 win over York RI moved them to within two points of Old Malton St Mary’s at the top of the table.

Riccall have two games in hand on St Mary’s and, with both Huntington and Dunnington still harbouring hopes of catching up, it looks likely that the title race will go down to the wire.

The weather once again had an impact on the day’s fixture list, with Riccall the only side in the top three able to play their game.

Gary Roberts put them ahead against visitors York RI before Montgomery doubled their lead from inside his own penalty area.

Wayne Brook added the third to seal an impressive win over an in-form RI side.

Dunnington also made the most of conditions against Easingwold Town, emerging comfortable 6-1 winners.

Jimmy Wilmoth and Tom Matthews both bagged braces, with Josh Tattersall and Olly Newby adding to the scoreline.

Dave Adams hit Town’s consolation.

Wigginton completed the double over Copmanthorpe with a 2-0 win to retain fourth place.

Lee Stewart put Grasshoppers ahead just before half-time and Tom Metcalfe made certain of the victory from the penalty spot ten minutes from time.

David Thompson scored for Brooklyn as they drew 1-1 with division one leaders Tadcaster Magnets, who now need four points from their remaining two games to make certain of the title.

Church Fenton White Horse defeated Malton & Norton 4-0 thanks to goals from Jonathan Marshall (2), Alistair Cope and Lenny Mason.

The win puts White Horse five points behind Osbaldwick with three games in hand as the sides duel for promotion to the premier division.
