Acomb Hockey Club men’s I swatted Halifax 6-0 to rack up another Yorkshire League division four north maximum haul.

Choosing to play with a fierce wind at their backs, the tangerines opened the scoring through Pete Hilton.

Goalkeeper Craig Brown’s point-blank save prevented an equaliser before Hilton doubled the lead from close range.

A move down the right involving Nick Linfoot and Ryan Smith yielded a Matt Dickenson strike for a 3-0 half-time lead.

The Tangerines remained in command for a further three goals with a brace from Hilton and a Sam Lynn hit in the final miniue.

Skipper Baz Whitfield was man of the match, while Dave Bell, Dave Brown and Simon Theaker excelled in defence.
