York Press: Hockey: Acomb ladies crash 4-1 at Huddersfield Hockey: Acomb ladies crash 4-1 at Huddersfield

A BELOW-STRENGTH Acomb ladies I crashed 4-1 at Huddersfield Dragons II in Yorkshire Hockey League division two.

The Tangerines defence was breached in the second minute when an attack along the goal-line found the net from a rebound.

Within minutes, skipper Kerry Woods struck an equaliser from a pass by Vicky Wrigley.

The remainder of the first half was disjointed, but Acomb ’keeper Sarah Milburn was called upon to make some good saves.

The Huddersfield side breached the Acomb defence three times as the hosts’ speed took its toll.

The lone forays of Wendy Watson and Georgi Wood came to nothing when thwarted by the home defence.
